For the first time in 23 years of tests in the rating "Wards 10 Best Engines" did not hit eight-cylinder engines.
Instead retired V8 engines vacant places in the top 10 took "turbo six." Leaders of ranking became seven and three turbocharged hybrid engine. According to the editors of newspaper WardsAuto, contest results demonstrate the industry to reverse the engine volume and switch to turbocharged and hybrid technology. The official award ceremony will be held in January 11 at the Auto Show in Detroit.

Ten best engines of the 40 nominees WardsAuto editors chose on the basis of its own October and November test drives. Journalists evaluated engines for power, torque, vibration and noise level, fuel economy and the use of modern technologies. Engines were tested only those cars whose price in the US market does not exceed 62,000 US dollars.
The most interesting of 40 engines were chosen by US magazine journalists called four-cylinder engine volume of 2.3 liters under the hood of Ford Focus RS.
The best balance of performance and fuel economy was awarded a two-liter "four" power 212 "horses" from the Hybrid Accord.
The highest power per liter volume was in a two-liter 362-strong row "4" in the engine compartment Volvo V60 Polestar - 184 horsepower per liter.
